Hi, I'm Clau

I'm the founder and creative director of Mayan Bronze. My vision for this project is one of happy, free-spirited people that feel and look amazing in a gorgeous tan. They are aware that their choices promote health for themselves and for the environment. They wear their color as an omen to the muses that inspired it — the indigenous tribes, specifically from Mexico and Latin America.

My Why

As a Mexican-born woman living in Los Angeles, I have personally had multiple experiences of feeling out of place and boxed in the stereotypes of Latin women living in the US. I’ve had people ask about my educational background, ask if I’m the nanny, among plenty of other stories. Something that is not often talked about, however, is the separation that indigenous people experience in their own land in Mexico and Latin America. People who look “more native”, which usually means they have darker skin, indigenous features, or dress in the traditional attire, are treated as a minority; even though most people in this area are mixed, and come from the same origin.

This project is about creating an impact - in the environment and how we take care of it, in our physical health and wellness, in society and how we reclaim the meaning of real beauty, and in the world, making Mexico known for the natural beauty of the indigenous people. I'm commited to this mission, and feel like I was given an opportunity, and with it the resposibility, to play a part in rewriting the story.

Thank you so much for supporting this big dream of mine!

Love and truth always,

Clau
